LSU beats Texas in OT
This game was close until overtime. LSU’s Glen Davis had an awesome game, and LSU was up three with less than a minute to play. Texas got the ball upcourt, setting up one of the most chaotic sequences. I don’t even think I can explain it in full. Texas missed a few shots, and LSU couldn’t get a rebound, or control the ball. Finally Daniel Gibson hit a 3 pointer to tie the game. Neither team was able to score, so onto overtime.

In overtime, LSU was just too much, and Texas never was able to mount any offense. Glen Davis hit a 3, need I say more. LSU wins 70-60, and advance to the Final Four for the first time since 1986.

UCLA beats Memphis
In a very low scoring game, UCLA’s offense disappeared for long periods of time in this game. Still they led most of the game. Near the end of the first half, UCLA did not have a field goal for 8 and a half minutes, but led 28-21. In the second half, UCLA’s defense took over, while their offense struggled. Memphis only hit two 2 pointers all night, and both came very late in the ball game. It wasn’t pretty, but UCLA wins 50-45.

George Mason upsets UConn in OT
UConn has not looked like the best team in the tournament. They have had to fight and crawl their way back into games this tournament. George Mason is the cinderella team, an #11 seed, who had nothing to lose tonight.

UConn did have big leads on George Mason in the first half and the second half, but George Mason did not give up. At one point, George Mason hit six straight 3’s. George Mason led by 4 late in the game, but poor foul shot shooting gave UConn a chance. Denham Brown hit a buzzer beating lay-up to send the game to overtime.

In overtime, George Mason took the lead, but once again poor shooting from the foul line, gave Uconn a chance, but Uconn was rattled, and could not prevail. George Mason wins 86-84, and becomes the lowest seed to make the Final Four, since LSU in 1986 (Also an #11).

Florida beats Villanova
Joakim Noah was too much for Villanova, who is a small team. Florida led by as many as 12, but Villanova got the lead back under double-digits at the half. In the second half, Florida proved to be too much. Florida wins 75-62.

For the first time since 1980, no number one seeds will be in the Final Four. Many brackets this year have been ripped up, and thrown in the garbage, I know mine is.

George Mason beats Wichita State
These cinderella teams tried to get one step closer to the Final Four. George Mason jumped out to a 9-0 lead to start to game, and Wichita State never could recover. Wichita State as a team was 20-64 on field goal attempts, and 3-24 on three pointers. Yikes. George Mason never trailed in this game, and won 63-55.

Villanova beats Boston College in overtime
This game had a Final Four feel to it, and Boston College surged early, jumping out to a 9-0 lead, and at one point had a 25-9 lead. Villanova fought back though with solid defense. Villanova finally took their first lead of the game with 2:18 left in the game. Boston College was down three, then Jared Dudley hit a three to tie the game. Villanova could not score, so onto overtime.

In overtime both teams went back and forth. Villanova was down one with 12 seconds to go when, after Boston College knocked the ball out of bounds, Kyle Lowry inbounded the ball to Will Sheridan right under the basket. Boston College goaltended his shot. Villanova wins on a goaltending call, and rightly so after last year’s phantom travelling call. Nova wins 60-59.

Florida beats Georgetown
Another close game. Georgetown had a one point lead late in the game when, Corey Brewer was fouled and somehow spun, and made a shot. He completed the 3 point play, and Georgetown ran a lot of clock, and Darrel Owens had a good look from 3 point land, but his shot was off. Florida wins 57-53, and will Villanova in the Elite 8. Last year Florida was eliminated in the second round by Villanova, they want revenge.

UConn survives against Washington
UConn had 26 turnovers, were down 11 at one point. UConn needed all the help they could get, and they did get some. UConn went to the free throw line 47 times and the crowd wasn’t happy about that. Trailing by four with 21 seconds left, Marcus Williams drove in the lane, was fouled, but his shot went in. Williams completed the 3 point play. Washington’s Brandon Roy was fouled, and he made his foul shots. Setting up one of the most dramatic finishes in the tournament in a while. Rashad Anderson drained a long three, with two guys in his face. Another game goes to overtime.

In a finish similar to the Gonzaga-UCLA game, UConn was up two late in overtime, when Rudy Gay’s inbounds pass was intercepted by Washington’s Ryan Appleby, Appleby instead of driving inside, pass the ball out to Joel Smith, who gave the ball right back to Uconn. Ouch. UConn made some foul shots, and wins 98-92.

Some nail biters took place tonight, with some incredible endings. Its time to separate the men from the boys. Ah, they are all boys at this point.

LSU upsets Duke
J.J. Redick had a bad night, and when plays bad, Duke plays bad. LSU and their “Big Baby” Glen Davis proved to be too tough inside the paint. LSU wins 62-54.

Memphis beats Bradley
The clock struck midnight for Bradley tonight. I don’t know if John Calipari’s vomit speech yesterday had anything to do with it. Oh well, it was a good run for Bradley, and Memphis advances to the Elite 8 with an 80-64 victory.

Texas beats West Virginia on a last second shot
Texas killed West Virginia in rebounds, but this game was still close. West Virginia’s star Kevin Pittsnogle tied the game with 5 seconds to go. Without a timeout, Texas got the ball upcourt, and Kenton Paulino hit a last second three pointer. Texas wins 74-71.

UCLA beats Gonzaga
While the Texas game had the best ending, this was the game of the night. UCLA trailed by as many as 17 points, and started the game off very poorly. UCLA got back into the game in the second half, and that’s when all hell broke loose. UCLA scored the last 11 points of the game. UCLA got a steal with 12 seconds to go, and finally took their first lead of the game. Gonzaga had one last chance, but J.P Batista missed a Laettner-equse shot. Adam Morrison was in tears on the floor at the end of the game. UCLA wins shockingly 73-71.

Some stunning upsets took place, but with some of the bigger teams out of the fold, its time for the best teams to rise up, and make their way to the Final Four. Here’s what happened.

Duke beats George Washington
I know I called this an upset pick, but Duke played good defense, and George Washington couldn’t make easy shots. Duke is probably the strongest team in the tournament, and they cruise to a 74-61 victory.

Florida crushes UW-Milwaukee
Florida for the second time in the tournament, easily wins. Florida is another team that I misread. Florida won 82-60

Wichita State upsets Tennessee
Tennessee proved that they were a weak #2 seed, and got beat by Wichita State 80-73

Washington beats Illinois
This game went back and forth, both teams had double digits leads disappear. Washington wins 67-64.

LSU barely gets by Texas A&M
LSU was in a dog fight. Texas A&M played really well, but came up just short. LSU wins 58-57, and will play Duke in the Sweet 16. Yikes

Boston College beats Montana
Montana’s dreams of a Sweet 16 berth ended with a Boston College 69-56 win.

UCLA beats Alabama
Another team favored to go to the Final Four was in deep trouble. UCLA survives 62-59.

Gonzaga beats Indiana
Gonzaga was just too much and wins 90-80. Adam Morrison didn’t even have a good game, that says a lot.

Bradley upsets Pittsburgh
Bradley beat Kansas on Friday, and kept their cinderella story going. Bradley lead the whole first half as Pitt struggled. Bradley wins 72-66.

Memphis beats Bucknell
Early on Bucknell was in this game, but Memphis pulled away towards the end of the first half and never let up. Memphis wins 72-56.

George Mason upsets North Carolina
Last years champs bow out of the tournament early this year. George Mason started off slow, but got back into the game. George Mason wins 65-60.

UConn beats Kentucky
Kentucky kept this game close throughout, but it was not enough. UConn wins 87-83.

West Virginia beats Northwestern State
The lowest seed left had their hands full today. West Virginia jumped out to a huge lead, and never lost it. Northwestern State made a run in the second half, but West Virginia advances with a 67-54 win.

Texas beats N.C State
Texas looked a lot better today then they did on friday. Texas wins 75-54

Georgetown upsets Ohio State
Georgetown played a great game, and beats Ohio State 70-52

Villanova beats Arizona
Arizona put up a great fight, but was unable to win this game. It was close, but Villanova wins 82-78.

You never know with Michigan State, one year they are in the Final Four, the next they are out in the first round. George Mason wins 75-65

Pittsburgh beats Kent State
Kent State has some runs, but it wasn’t enough. This game was all Pittsburgh, and they won 79-64. Today, Pitt looked like a Final Four team, we’ll see how far they can go.

UConn sweats it out against Albany
At one point, UConn was down 12, and Albany was on their way to becoming the first #16 seed to ever win, but then UConn put it all together, and won 72-59.

NC State beats California
NC State hit a three late in the game, and things only got easier. NC State wins 58-52

Bradley vs Kansas
Bradley hit a long 3 at the end of the first half to go up 10. Kansas had many runs in the game, but in the end, came up short. Bradley wins 77-73. That is two years in a row where Kansas has lost in the first round. You hear that? Someone’s bracket just got ripped in half.

UNC struggles to beat Murray State
This game was intense. NC was able to get hot at the right time, and wins 69-65.

Texas beats Penn
Penn lead at the half, and kept the game close for a while. Then as things have been all first round, a strong team got hot, and was able to pull away in the end. Texas wins 60-52.

Kentucky beats UAB
UAB has twice beaten Kentucky in the tournament. Not this time, Kentucky wins 69-64.

So far in the tournament, the #2 seeds look weak, except UCLA. It was gut check time for the big schools, and they answered. Now it’s onto the second round.

Northwestern State defeats Iowa
Iowa jumped out to an early lead, but Northwestern State fought back, to tie the game in the first half. Iowa once again, jumped out to a big lead in the second half, only to watch it disappear. Iowa was up 2 with less then 20 seconds left when Jermaine Wallace hit the game winnning three pointer with 0.4 left on the clock. This was the best moment of the tournament so far, as well as the biggest upset. Northwestern States wins 64-63

Bucknell beats Arkansas
This was a back and forth game, but the Bucknell wins 59-55. Bucknell is a dangerous #9 seed.

Ohio State survives Davidson
Davidson actually lead at the end of the first half, and played well. They ran out of steam towards the end, and Ohio State wins 70-62

Arizona crushes Wisconsin
This game was never close, and Arizona advances with a 94-75 win.

Memphis beats Oral Roberts
In the first half, Memphis had their hands full, and were trailing. Then they hit a lot of threes, oh well. Memphis wins 94-78.

Villanova beats Monmouth
Nova never trailed in this game. It was ugly from the beginning, and Monmouth hung around somewhat, but was never able to mount a big run. Villanova wins 58-45

Georgetown beats Northern Iowa
This was a bad day for the state of Iowa. This was a close game, but Georgetown wore down Northern Iowa, and won 54-49

West Virginia crushes Southern Illinois
Another blowout, and West Virginia advances to the next round with a 64-46 win. West Virginia will play Northwestern State on Sunday, and they look like they can make some noise in this tournament.

Belmont did lead this game 16-10 at one point. UCLA got pissed off, and crushed Belmont like a paper cup, 78-44. Well that was easy.

George Washington beats NC Wilmington in OT
NC Wilmington was on fire to start out the second half. George Washington was down 18 point midway through the second half, then went on an incredible 19-0 run. Both teams traded leads back and forth and the game went to overtime, where George Washington prevailed 88-85.

LSU beats Iona
Iona led at the end of the first half. LSU woke up, and took control of the game. LSU wins 80-64.

Gonzaga beats Xavier
Xavier was in control for most of the game, then Adam Morrison got hot. Morrison had 35 points, and Gonzaga survives 79-75. What a sad way for Xavier to lose.

Illinois beats Air Force
Air Force had some moments, but Illinois wins 78-69.

Texas A&M beats Syracuse
The Syracuse Orange (why can’t they go back to being called the Orangemen?) ran out of steam, and could not beat Texas A&M. Texas A&M won 66-58. Two #12 seeds won today.

Duke beats Southern
Southern hung tough, and were within four point in the second half. Duke slammed the door shut, and won with ease 70-54.

Indiana beats San Diego State
This one screwed up my bracket. San Diego State was in control for most of the game. Indiana made a late run, and had some help when San Diego State had a complete meltdown. This was sad to watch, but Indiana won 87-83.

Washington beats Utah State
Washington had a three-point party tonight, and Utah State had no answers. Washington wins 75-61

UW-Milwaukee beats Oklahoma
This wasn’t much of a surprise. UW-Milwaukee did good in the tournament last year and won this game 82-74, and will take on Florida in the next round.

Wichita State beats Seton Hall
Seton Hall was crushed, they never lead, and never really had much of a chance. Maybe now, we can shut up about the Missouri Valley Conference. Witchita State is the champ, and beat a big school with ease 86-66

MARCH MADNESS AGAIN!! Make your bets and trades here! Trading is smart betting is not.

Boston College beats Pacific in 2 OTs
Boston College and everyone with a bracket, was sweating this one out. Boston College started out strong, but Pacific fought hard all day long. Pacific had a chance to win it in regulation and the first overtime, but couldn’t do it. Boston College dominated in the second overtime to win 88-76, saving a lot of people’s brackets.

Damn Pacific, you were my upset pick. Nice try though.

Alabama beats Marquette
There was a bomb scare before the game when a mysterious package was found in the arena, causing the crowd to evacuate, and delaying the game 70 minutes. Bomb-sniffing dogs, and robots were brought in. When they determined the package wasn’t a bomb, the players and fans were allowed in. Now onto the game.

Alabama kept building big leads, only to watch Marquette fight back. Alabama was able to hold on 90-85.

Tennessee beats Winthrop
It was a close call, as Tennessee had their hands full with a strong Winthrop team. It took a wild a wild last second by Chris Lofton to get Tennessee to the next round. Oh boy. Tennessee hangs on 63-61

Florida beats South Alabama
After a sluggish start, Florida crushes South Alabama 76-50. Florida looks very strong, and will face UW-Milwaukee in the next round.

Montana beats Nevada
Nevada plays poorly, and Montana pulls the biggest upset so far by winning 87-79. Boston College is waiting in the second round.

Winner: Monmouth
Now that that nonsense is over with, let’s move on.

Now on the real meaty part of the tournament. I wish I had my bracket on here, I’m getting a little silly this year, but it’s a silly year. Here are my final four teams.

Texas, UCLA, Connecticut, and Ohio State

Upsets
Texas A&M over Syracuse I feel Syracuse was given a generous #5 with their Big East tournament run.

Gonzaga has another early exit
I’m not sold on this team as a favorite in any game, and I’m picking San Diego St. to beat them in the second round.

Utah St. over Washington
I need another #12 seed to win, usually two win every year.

Pacific over Boston College
Boston College has become a trendy final four team of late. I always pick Pacific for some reason.

Florida early exit
Florida hasn’t been good in the tournament for a while. They lost last year in the first round, so why would I think this team could make it to the sweet 16? I have UW-Milwaukee beating them in the second round.

Duke early exit
Hey, I need to make some shocking pick, and why not take on the #1 seed in the whole damn tournament. I don’t think Duke is strong enough to get to the final four. I have George Washington beating them in the second round. I need to do something to make some money, don’t I?

Let the games begin.

Everyone’s favorite team of year is back, it’s bracket time. Tomorrow is the day were the office is actually fun, and everyone fills out their brackets, and hopes to make some well earned cash. I’ll make my picks tomorrow, but for now I want to discuss the seeding.

MARCH MADNESS AGAIN!! Make your bets and trades here! Trading is smart betting is not.

Duke seeded #1 overall
Duke deserved a #1 seed, but not the overall #1. This is by Duke standards, a subpar team. It’s not deep, by I guess I’m nitpicking.

Gonzaga upset with #3 seed
Guys what did you want a #1? Seriously, its been a while since this team has made any noise in the tournament, you can’t live off that one elite eight, that was seven years ago.

Memphis
Memphis is the weakest #1 seed, but who knows this year, everyone has flaws. Had Ohio State won today, they could have been a #1 seed.

Bucknell and George Washington
Both teams were in the top 25, but end up with low seeds. George Washington is an #8, Bucknell is a #9. I wouldn’t want to play either team.

It’s shaping up to be another wild year for the NCAA tournament, I hope I can win some easy money.
