The Boston Celtics were the talk of the NBA this offseason. They got Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen. With Paul Pierce, the Celtics trio of superstars make them the favorite in the East. These big moves might be a sign that the East is tired of being the Western Conference punching bag. With the powerhouse teams in the West, it’s hard to imagine that any of these teams can put up a fight in the Finals, but you never know in the NBA.

Atlantic Division

New Jersey Nets
With the Celtics the talk of the East, the Nets have quietly gotten heathly. That’s all the need, because their trio of stars should lead them to the division title. Add Nenad Krstic, and the Nets might be the favorite to come out of the East.

Toronto Raptors
The Raptors won this division last year, so they might come back to Earth a little bit. Still, they have a good young core, and are good at home. That should be enough to make a return trip to the playoffs, but they won’t be able to get very far in the playoffs.

Boston Celtics
The Celtics are the talk of East, and probably the NBA with all their offseason moves. They have a whole new team, which is for the best. The Celtics need to return to their glory days, but I’m not going to say that they are going to the NBA Finals. They should make the playoffs, but even in the thin East, there are other teams, with other great players that will keep the Celtics from the Finals.

Philadelphia 76ers
The Sixers got rid of Allen Iverson, and made a run at the 8 seed last year. They could get the 8th seed, but they lack the go to guy needed for a playoff run. They don’t need a winning record to make the playoffs, but I’ll say that once again, they’ll miss the playoffs.

New York Knicks
It’s been a terrible offseason for the Knicks. Isiah Thomas is probably going to be fired, and the Knicks are not close to being a division powerhouse. They need to retool, and get more than castoffs, they need to use the draft to build a solid team.

Southeast Division

Miami Heat
The Southeast is an interesting division, but the Heat have Shaq. When Dwayne Wade gets healthy, the Heat will have their one two punch back, and ready for the playoffs. The other teams in the division just don’t have that. The Heat won’t return to the Finals, but they should be able have a first round series at home.

Washington Wizards
The Wizards were on their way to winning this division last year, but injures did them in, and they ended up getting swept by the Cavs. The Wizards need Gilbert Arenas to remain healthy. They could make some noise in the playoffs if he’s healthy.

Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks quietly made improvements last year, and are looking to make the next step, playoffs. Sure, the team is young, but they put up points, and in the East, putting up points can get you into the playoffs. They haven’t been to the playoffs in a while, but I think they are ready.

Orlando Magic
The Magic have Dwight Howard, and on paper that should mean a return trip to the playoffs. The way they finished the season last year has me worried. The were easily taken care of by the Pistons, and that’s fine, but they had a terrible record, and barely were the 8th seed. I expect another year of growing pains before this team can become a factor in the East.

Charlotte Bobcats
Not much to say about the Bobcats. They are too young to make a push for the 8th seed, and the other teams in the division are just better then them. Maybe next year they can make a run.

Central Division

Detroit Pistons
The Pistons are still the most complete team in the East, but they are on thin ice. LeBron James took over against them in the Eastern Conference Finals, and the Pistons might need to make a return trip to the Finals to save Flip Saunders job. Things shouldn’t be like this, but Detroit’s window is running out.

Chicago Bulls
The Bulls have enough talent to make a run at the Finals. With talks of a Kobe Bryant trade, the Bulls are thinking short term instead of long term. The Bulls got into a hole against the Pistons, I don’t think that will happen again.

Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavs made the Finals last year, but realized that even with LeBron, they have a long ways to go until they will be crowned champs. They didn’t get better this offseason, so you have to wonder, what is this time thinking. Will LeBron have to insane in the playoffs like he did last year?

Indiana Pacers
The Pacers are not the Eastern powerhouse they were a few years ago. They should improve on offense, but they don’t have the talent needed to make the playoffs in the East.

Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks are in a talented divison, and like the Pacers, don’t have the playmakers needed to make the playoffs.

The NBA season is upon us, and I figure I might as well make some predictions. Last season, the Warriors and the Jazz made noise in the playoffs. The Warriors beat the number one seed, Dallas Mavericks, while the Jazz made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals. It going to be hard for both of those teams to live up to expectations. The West has three Goliaths, the Suns, Mavs, and Spurs. How will things pan out in the West?

Northwest Division
The weakest division by far in the West. The Jazz were a surprise winner last season, and the Nuggets are looking to reclaim the division crown. The other three teams in the Northwest Division are too young or have too many issues to contend for the playoffs, much less the division title.

Utah Jazz
The Jazz have a solid core of players. Carlos Boozer finally lived up to his end of his big contract. That isn’t to say he was the only star. Deron Williams improved a lot in his second year, and Mehmet Okur is a versatile center with range. The loss of Derek Fisher will hurt the Jazz, but they should be able to win this division. They aren’t going to be sneaking up on teams like they did last season.

Denver Nuggets
When the Nuggets got Allen Iverson last season, they felt they had that one missing piece help propel them to the second round of the playoffs. They ran into the San Antonio Spurs however, and another early exit for the Nuggets. Even with Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson, the Nuggets biggest strength is defense. If Marcus Camby can stay healthy, the Nuggets will be a good enough on defense, but lack the depth to advance far in the playoffs.

Portland Trail Blazers
The loss of Greg Oden hurts the young Blazers, but they improved last year, and should improve this year. While the playoffs might be out of reach, the Blazers are better than the Sonics and the Timberwolves.

Seattle Supersonics
Kevin Durant will help get interest back in the Sonics, but this team has to worry about their future in Seattle. They don’t have the stars needed to make a run at the playoffs.

Minnesota Timberwolves
They got rid of Kevin Garnett, and the Timberwolves really are looking up at the rest of the West. Even with Garnett, they weren’t making the playoffs, now they have more depth. It won’t matter. They still have a ways to go to be a playoff team.

Southwest Division

San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs are primed to make another run at the title. Five titles in 10 years would be a major achievement, but the other teams in the West are gunning for them. The Spurs will be probably be in the Western Conference Finals again. I think another team in the West will be able to keep them away from the title. The Spurs haven’t won back to back championships.

Dallas Mavericks
Everything was going the Mavericks way, until they ran into the Warriors in the first round. The Mavs would have won if they played anyone else, but the Warriors have always given the Mavericks problems. The Mavericks now have a chip on their shoulder, and nothing but an NBA will satisfy them. I don’t think the Mavericks have the frontcourt to win the title this year.

Houston Rockets
Jeff Van Gundy is gone, and Rick Adelman is now the head coach. The Rockets should improve on offense with Adelman. The defense was rock solid last year, but they were unable to win game 7 against the Jazz. If McGrady and Yao Ming can stay healthy, the Rockets are a dangerous team. They have to get past the first round though.

New Orleans Hornets
The Hornets have been close to making the playoffs, I think this year this will finally make it, as an 8 seed. Chris Paul is a star, he’s just stuck in an area of the country that doesn’t get major media attention. They won’t be able to get far in the playoffs, but they can make it.

Memphis Grizzles
After years of early exits in the playoffs, the floor fell out from the Grizzles. They were the worst team in the NBA, and even that didn’t help them in the draft. Expect another bad year for the Grizzles.

Pacific Division

Phoenix Suns
The Suns know time is running out. The window is closing, and they know their road to the title will most likely go thru the Spurs. They haven’t been able to beat the Spurs in the playoffs. I think this is their year to finally beat the Spurs, and win the NBA title.

Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers barely missed the playoffs last year, and should rebound and make the playoffs this season. Elton Brand is a star, and the Clippers have depth. While this team won’t be able to get past the top teams in the West, they should be a 6 seed. Anything can happen when you’re the 6th seed.

Golden State Warriors
The Warriors were the Cinderella story of the NBA last season. It was a great run, but now teams won’t overlook them. They have a good core of players, but their defense isn’t good, and they don’t have the size to hang with the big boys of the West.

Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers season is already in trouble. There is a good chance Kobe Bryant will be traded, and without Kobe, the team has no chance to make the playoffs. If Kobe somehow stayed on the Lakers (which isn’t going to happen) the Lakers would make the playoffs, but would be looking at another first round exit.

Sacramento Kings
The Kings are a team in trouble. They will probably get rid of Ron Artest, which on the surface might seem like a good idea, but Artest is a great defender. Even with Artest, the Kings are at the bottom of a stacked division.

The Western Conference has a lot of strong teams. The Spurs and Mavericks should once again be at the top of the bunch. With the new playoff format, instead of meeting in the second round, they should meet in the Western Conference Finals. The Suns and Clippers are right there as Western Conference elites.

Southwest Division
Dallas Mavericks- The Mavs were up 2-0 in the finals, but then everything came apart. They should be able to win this division and get homecourt throughout the playoffs. Whether or not, they can beat the Spurs again reminds to be seen.

San Antonio Spurs- The Spurs-Mavs series was one of the best series in recent memory. The Spurs need to have a chip on their shoulder, and I think they can go back to the finals. The playoff seeding hurt them last year, but now they can be a 2 seed and quietly make their run.

New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets -The Hornets won’t be playing in New Orleans much this season, and maybe that’s what they want. They almost made the playoffs last year, and Chris Paul should be ready to take his game to the next level.

Memphis Grizzles- The Grizzles have yet to win a playoff game, and I think that is going to be on their minds this season. Should they make the playoffs? Yes, but when you don’t win in the playoffs it gets to you.

Houston Rockets- They have Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, and if they stay healthy the Rockets can make the playoffs. They would be a very dangerous team if Yao and T-Mac suit up, but I don’t know if they will.

Northwest Division
Denver Nuggets- The Nuggets are the best team in a poor division. There are teams in the Northwest that can overtake them, but I don’t think that will happen. Carmelo Anthony is becoming one of the elite stars of the NBA, that should be enough to win the division.

Seattle SuperSonics -The Sonics became one of the best offenses in the NBA at the end of the season. They don’t have a good enough defense to make noise in the playoffs, but they could sneak in as an 8th seed.

Utah Jazz- The Jazz were close to the playoffs last year, and should be again this year. They are kind of forgotten about, but maybe that’s a good thing. They have some talent, but that might not be enough in the West.

Minnesota Timberwolves- This is a team that is going south fast. Who knows how long Kevin Garnett will remain with the team. It’s a shame it hasn’t worked out the last few years. Without Garnett, this team is a long ways away from the playoffs

Portland Trail Blazers- This team is too young to make the playoffs, and they will be competing again for the worst record in the NBA. Maybe this year, they will get the number 1 pick.

Pacific Division
Phoenix Suns- The Suns can either be a Championship threat, or have another season where Steve Nash has make superstars of everyone. If Amare Stoudemire is healthy, the Suns can be in the NBA Finals. I don’t know if Stoudemire will be 100% this season.

L.A. Clippers- The Clippers were close to the Western Conference Finals last year. It’s going to be tough for them with the new playoff seeding. If they face the Suns in the playoffs, they can win. If they have to face the Spurs or Mavs, they aren’t going very far.

L.A. Lakers- The Lakers were one win away from upsetting the Suns in the first round. The Lakers should be improved, but they will only go as far as Kwame Brown lets them.

Sacramento Kings- The Kings with Ron Artest can do some damage. This is a team that can move up in the Pacific Division. It’s a tough division though, and if they are an 8th seed again, it will be another early exit.

Golden State Warriors- It’s been a long time since the Warriors have made the playoffs. Don Nelson is back as head coach, and he was their coach last time they made the playoffs. This tough division is too much for the Warriors to overcome.

Basketball season starts tonight, so I figured I might as well make some predictions. The Miami Heat look to repeat as champions, but they have the Chicago Bulls hot on their heels. The Bulls added Ben Wallace, which should put them with the elite teams in the East.

Atlantic Division
New Jersey Nets- The Nets have a lot of talent, but with the other teams in the East, they have a long road to go to reach the NBA Finals. This is an easy division, so it shouldn’t be hard for them to win the Atlantic Division

Boston Celtics- They have added a lot of depth to their backcourt, but look at the Knicks last year. The Celtics probably won’t make the playoffs.

Philadelphia 76ers
The Sixers still have Allen Iverson, but for how long? The duo of Chris Webber and A.I has not been able to get the Sixers to the promise land, and they have a long season ahead of them. Allen Iverson will score points, but that won’t be enough for the Sixers to make the playoffs.

Toronto Raptors
This team has a lot of young talent, so it’s going to be a work in progress. Chris Bosh is a freak, but they need more then him to make a run.

New York Knicks
What can you say about the Knicks that hasn’t already been said? Isiah Thomas needs to get everyone on the same page to keep his job, and with the players that he has, that’s not going to happen. This is going to be another bad year for the Knicks

Central Division
Chicago Bulls
The Bulls got hot late last year and made the playoffs. With Ben Wallace, that is going to change. The Pistons are still a dangerous team, but Ben Wallace was the heart and soul of the team. The Bulls have depth, and a lot of young talent. While I don’t think they will win the title this year, they are one of top teams in the East.

Detroit Pistons
One loss can make a big difference. Ben Wallace helped turn the Pistons into one of the elite teams in the NBA. Things were going great last year, but they ran into the Heat. They will still make the playoffs and probably be the 3rd seed with the new playoff format.

Cleveland Cavaliers
They were one win away from the Eastern Conference Finals, but couldn’t seal the deal against the Pistons. This a case of everyone else in the division getting better, while the Cavs remain intact. They are still one of the better teams in the East, but they will probably have to go through the Pistons again.

Indiana Pacers
I don’t know what to make of the Pacers. The off the court issues have become a problem, and making the playoffs will be hard, but I think they can barely be the 8th seed in the East
Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks were a surprise playoff team. They played poorly at the end of the regular season, and got beat by the Pistons in the first round. They will take a step back this season.

Southeast Division
Miami Heat
The Heat won’t have a challenge in their division, so they should be the number one seed in the playoffs. It’s going to be tough, but I think they will go back to the Finals.

Washington Wizards
Gilbert Arenas had a great year last year, and he should rebound from the two missed free throws against the Cavs in the playoffs. It’s a tough conference, so a 6th seed is where the Wizards should end up. That’s not a bad thing.

Orlando Magic
They were the hottest team at the end of the regular season, and with Dwight Howard they should make the playoffs. While they probably won’t go far, the Magic are a team on the rise.

Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks have too many flaws to compete for a playoff spot. They played better last season, and can improve this season, but only by a few games.

Charlotte Bobcats
Adam Morrison is going to have to be the next Larry Bird to get this team to the playoffs. They have Emeka Okafor, but it’s going to be another long year for the Bobcats.

The Conference Semi-Finals are taking place, and the biggest story is the reigning champs, the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs lost in overtime last night, and are on the ropes, trailing the Mavs 3-1. The Dallas Mavericks are too quick for the Spurs, and we all know the Spurs aren’t good at coming from behind. In fact, during the Duncan era, they’ve never won a series that they have trailed after 3 games. Did anyone else get a laugh out of their melt-down last night? A poor turnover on an inbounds pass late in the 4th quarter. And how about the end of the game. Did they not understand they had to foul?

The Pistons lost last night, now they are tied with the Cavs 2-2. It seems like the Pistons and Spurs have both been doing a lot of complaining of late. Granted, some of the calls last night were terrible in the Pistons game. Here is another team, that doesn’t seem to handle adversity very well. The Spurs and Pistons are both the bullies of the NBA, and it’s kind of fun watching them struggle. Still the Pistons should win their series with the Cavs.

The Suns and Clippers are tied 2-2. I think the Clippers are a better team, but they have a hard time closing games. Why don’t they just have Elton Brand take every shot? Who do the Suns have that can stop him? The Clippers might be a little nervous, because they can go to the Western Conference Finals, something they have never done.

The Nets might as well have the fishing rods out. The Heat are one win away from advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat should close this series out tonight. With the Pistons tied with the Cavs, the Heat are going to get a lot of rest. I bet David Stern is hoping the Heat make it to the NBA Finals. Shaq = ratings.

The Lakers were able to jump out to a 3-1 series lead. Since game 4, emotions have been high. Raja Bell’s hard foul on Kobe Bryant in game 5. Without Bell in game 6, Kobe scored 50 point, but the Suns won game 6 in overtime. With game 7 in Phoenix, everything was looking good for the Suns.

The Lakers were never in this game. Their front court couldn’t make anything. The Suns jumped out to an early double-digit lead, and never looked back. Even with Steve Nash hobbled by an ankle injury, Leandro Barbosa turned game 7 into his own personal lay-up drill. Barbosa scored a game high 26 points.

The biggest story from this game will be, what happened to Kobe Bryant in the second half? Kobe only took 3 shots, while his team couldn’t score. Usually, Kobe takes way too many shots, but only 3 shots and 1 point in the second half? Lots of questions need to be answered by the Lakers.

The Sun win 121-90, and become the 8th team ever to come back from a 3-1 deficit. The Suns will play the Clippers on Monday.

In the best game of the NBA Playoffs so far, the Lakers are one game away from advancing to the next round. Steve Nash started the game on fire, while Kobe was in major foul trouble in the first half. Still, the game was tied at halftime.

The Suns had a five point lead late in the game, but a Smush Parker three led to a wild ending. Steve Nash got the inbounds pass, but Smush Parker knocked the ball loose. Kobe Bryant made a tough lay-up to send the game to overtime.

In overtime, Steve Nash hit a big three. Kobe followed with a another lay-up. Down by one, the Lakers had to foul, but instead Luke Walton tied up Steve Nash causing a jump ball. The Lakers won the tip, setting up Kobe Bryant’s game winning (and perhaps series ending) buzzer beater. For the Suns this was a tough loss. See what happens when you give Steve Nash the MVP during the first round, Kobe gets mad.

While the NBA playoffs are underway, and so far home-court has been a big deal. Only the Nets, Cavs and Suns have lost at home so far. The Pistons have a 2-0 lead, and are well on their way to an easy sweep. The Spurs are up 2-0, but needed overtime to beat the Kings. Tim Duncan might be really hurt, because Shareef Abdur-Rahim was giving Duncan a lesson in game 2. Even without Ron Artest, the Kings had a chance to win, but missed foul shots, and Mike Bibby playing poorly doomed the Kings. Same old story for the Kings.

The poor Grizzles can’t get a win, and are about to go fishing really soon. The Clippers are up 2-0, but go to Denver. Denver is not an easy place to get a win. The Heat are up 2-0, but game one wasn’t easy. It should be a lot smoother for the Heat. The Sun-Lakers series is looking like it will be the best. The Lakers won last night, and go to L.A tied 1-1. Neither team can play defense, so you know that leads to exciting games.

The Cavs-Wizards series is even. LeBron vs Areans. I want to know, why isn’t Areans considered an elite player? He didn’t even get voted into the All-Star game, even though he was the 4th highest scorer. Oh well, I think this series will go seven games.

The Nets and Pacers are waging a little war on NBA TV. You know your series isn’t exciting when you have 3 games on NBA TV. That being said, the series is tied 1-1. The Nets should pull away soon. Maybe Peja will shoot another airball in the playoffs

Pistons vs Bucks
Detroit goes onto the next round, very easily
Pistons 4-0

Heat vs Bulls
The Bulls are one of the hottest teams going into the playoffs. I would have preferred the Magic to make it, but the Bulls might win a game or two in this series. Too much Wade and Shaq.
Heat 4-1

Nets vs Pacers
This is an interesting match-up. The Nets were red hot towards the end of the year, but they don’t have anyone to stop Jermaine O’ Neal. I still have to go with the the Nets in this series
Nets 4-2

Cavs vs Wizards
This is the series I am looking the most forward to. The Wizards don’t get a lot of respect, even though Gilbert Areans has had one hell of a season. All the talk is about LeBron James, and rightly so. I have to go with the Wizards, they have the Cavs number
Wizards 4-3

Spurs vs Kings
The Spurs look to be on their way to another NBA Championship. First things first, they have to get by the Kings. That shouldn’t be hard. Ron Artest thinks the Kings will win it all. Okay Ron, calm down.
Spurs 4-1

Suns vs Lakers
Kobe is back in the playoffs, and on a mission. He can put up 40 a night against the Suns, and it still won’t be enough. I think Kobe will make this series more competitive than it should be.
Suns 4-2

Nuggets vs Clippers
The Nuggets are the 3rd seed, but they really are the 8th best team in the West. They don’t have home-court against the Clippers. Neither team has been able to advance in the playoffs (and in the Clippers case, they haven’t been to the playoffs since 1996, yikes.) The Clippers are a better team, but I can see this going seven games.
Clippers 4-3

Mavs vs Grizzles
Memphis has never won a playoff game, and they won too many games to end the season. Bad idea. Will they win a playoff game this year? I don’t think they will
Mavs 4-0

It’s time for NBA All-Star Saturday Night. The stars were out, but either on bench, or in non dunk events. The festivities began with the national anthem sung by Walter McCarty. And you know what I like it, why spend money on a regular singer, when you got a basketball player who can sing pretty good. He should have worn his jersey though.

Shooting Stars
What a shitty event to have. I’m tired of seeing old NBA legends (okay, Dan Majerle and Steve Kerr aren’t legends) and WNBA players during NBA all-star weekend. Well Lisa Leslie found a new way to embarrass herself, she missed a lot some easy shots. And notice, that the active NBA players make the half court shots. Clyde Drexler was there and in pretty good shape, maybe that aborted comeback helped. Anyway the San Antonio team won. Thank god this event was only one round.

Skills Challenge
Now this has some star power. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul, and last year’s winner Steve Nash. Hey LeBron and Dwayne, enter the dunk contest instead of this. Why not have them go through tires while dribbling? Steve Nash messed up in the first round, and it was a showdown between Bron Bron and Wade Wade, sounds like a bad What’s Happening episode. Dwyane Wade won the challenge.

Three Point Contest
Former champ Ray Allen and last year’s winner Quentin Richardson were in the field, as were Dirk Nowitzki, Gilbert Arenas, Jason Terry, and Chauncey Billups. Quentin Richardson’s reign as champ ended in the first round, and it was down to Allen, Arenas, and Dirk. Dirk Nowitzki won with sharp shooting in the final round.

Slam Dunk Contest
Now for the main event. Last year’s champ Josh Smith put a piece of tape down, from way outside the foul line, but ended up doing a two handed foul line dunk. Now I know teasing the crowd won’t win you high scores, but there hasn’t been to many two-handed foul line dunks. Josh was on the verge of throwing up, and did not make the second round. Hakim Warrick had one good dunk, but the crowd was more into 5-9 Nate Robinson. Now I like smaller guys dunking, but I was not impressed by his first round at all. Andre Iguodala was the star of the night, with his off the back of the backboard reverse dunk. It got a 50, and rightly so.

Now it was down to Andre Iguodala and Nate Robinson. Andre did a behind the back, off the bounce, a better version of the J.R. Smith dunk from last year. Another 50. Nate Robinson tried some in between the legs dunks, but needed like 10 attempts, but he did do it, and got a high score. I don’t think that was far, if you make a dunk on the first try, it means a lot more. The highlight of the night was Nate Robinson jumping over Spud Webb, now that deserved a 50. Andre had a chance to win the contest, but did a between the legs reverse that the judges weren’t into, and you could tell they wanted a dunk off. This was a first for the dunk contest.

I’d be more excited over it, but Nate Robinson needed 14 attempts to complete his dunk. It was a good idea, but after two failed tries, you need to go into the bag of tricks. Once again, high score, not deserved. Andre Iguodala did another between the legs dunk, and he lost by one point. The crowd was booing, even though Magic Johnson said “the dunk contest is BACK!” Real smooth, he says that every year. Nate Robinson wins in highly dubious fashion. Is was nice to see Spud Webb again. Why don’t they just have a dunk bracket, people like brackets.

Now that football season is over, I have to get into basketball. I haven’t been as into it as I should be, but with the All-Star game coming up, that means its the second half of the NBA season. Here are some things I am looking forward to in the second half.

Dallas vs San Antonio
This is going to be fun to watch. Whoever wins the Southwest division will have home-court throughout the NBA playoffs. Dallas has their best shot at an NBA title this season, and having the Spurs on the ropes would be the icing on the cake. The Spurs on the other hand are having a great season, but if they don’t win the Southwest they are not going to repeat as champions. When do they ever win without home-court advantage?

The Clippers
The Clip show are on the verge of making the playoffs for the first time in a decade. They finally have a strong team, but need to have to right seed to make noise in the playoffs. If they have to play the Mavericks of the Spurs in the first round, its lights out for the Clippers.

Big Trades
I don’t know if this season will have impact trades on the playoffs, since the biggest trade I’ve heard is Steve Francis going to the Knicks. Well that circus I am interested in watching. This team is the worst team in the NBA, and getting Francis isn’t helping matter. Maybe Larry Brown will walk away. Also Darko Milicic is on his way to the Magic, it is time to see if he can play or not. He hasn’t had a chance in Detroit, but if he fails he will go down as a huge bust. I’m sure some other huge trades are in the works.

The Pistons
They won’t win 70 games, but they are on their way to the title. They are the best team in basketball, but I don’t like how they are “resting” their guys. Just admit it guys, 70 wins was out of the questions. If they get the home court in the finals, they will win the NBA Championship. Is Larry Brown pissed off or what?

The NBA Slam Dunk Contest is coming soon, and I can’t wait. I’m a big fan of the Dunk Contest, and I don’t know why it gets criticized by the media. People say nothing new is being done, but last year had some fresh dunks like Amare Stoudamire getting and alley oop from Steve Nash’s head. That was great. If the Dunk Contest wants to improve, put more guys in the damn thing, four guys is not enough. Why not have 8 guys like the old days? Also get rid of rhe age limit for the Dunk Contest, I want to see Jason Richardson try some sick shit.

The biggest gripe with the Dunk Contest is the lack of stars, but thats fine with me. Do I really want to see LeBron James lose? He didn’t look good in his high school dunk contest, and I don’t think he has added anything to his dunk set-list.

Also people don’t want the dunk contest to be the main event of All Star Saturday. So the Dunk Contest gets old, but the lousy 3 Point Contest doesn’t. They haven’t done anything new since they changed the money ball to green in the mid 90s, and that sucked. It’s the same shot, and unless some gets a perfect score, I’m bored to death by it.

Lets not get out of hand folks, the Dunk Contest is the main event, and the other events are just filler material (barring the Rookie-Sophomore game, which is filled with dunks. )

At least we won’t be seeing 2-Ball anytime soon.

Kobe Bryant had 81 points, yes 81 points in a basketball game . Kobe had 55 points in the second half, as he led the Lakers to a win over the lowly Raptors. Kobe Bryant had the second most points ever in an NBA game. Is this guy the best basketball player on the planet? Yup.

The annual Christmas game from now on, Los Angeles Lakers vs the Miami Heat. Kobe vs Shaq, Pat Riley vs Phil Jackson, good vs evil. I’m a Lakers fan so I was upset while eating my Christmas dinner. It was a good basketball game though, as Kobe and Shaq engaged in a frantic 1st quarter of action. Lots of dunks by both teams. While the Lakers are a young team they proved they could be a playoff basketball team by the end of the basketball season. The Heat on the other hand, sure they will make the playoffs, but this is probably their last run at a title. A lot of their players are getting old, or are old already.

Kobe takes a lot of shit in the media, yet Dwyane Wade is the golden boy of the NBA. Isn’t he just Kobe Bryant from 5 years ago?

The Lake show might have lost the game, but I can see this Heat team falling apart at some point in time. How can you expect Gary Peyton to have games like he did last night all the time. He is the reason Shaq is out of L.A. not Kobe.

Golden State Warriors vs Philadelphia Seventy Sixers
This one was a toss up for me but I’m assuming Alan Iverson will have a good game. Philly’s in for a win.

Los Angeles Clippers vs Indiana Pacers
The Pacers have been playing well without Ron Artest - this should be a good basketball game.

New Jersey Nets vs Orlando Magic
The Magic have been struggling but with the return of Grant Hill I think they can pull it off if Vince Carter has a less than amazing game.

San Antonio Spurs vs New York Knicks
‘Nuff Said…

Utah Jazz vs Boston Celtics
Celtics are due to finaly win two basketball games straight - where better to start than with a weakened Utah team?

New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets vs Minnesota Timberwolves
I think Kevin Garnett and Minnesota will hold down the Hornets giant killer attitude even though they have had some impressive standings against the strong teams this year.

Portland Trail Blazers vs Memphis Grizzlies
Although the Portland Blazers did decent last game i dont expect them to hold their own tonight. I expect this basketball game to be a blowout in favor of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Toronto Raptors vs Houston Rockets
This matchup is a little more balanced without Yao Ming but I don’t expect it to be too hard for Houston to pull it off. The Rockets will win.

Washington Wizards vs Denver Nuggets
Should be a good game with both teams trying to end 3 game losing streaks, but the Wizards are down a man so it’s in the Nuggets’ favor.

I got the NBA league pass package this year. Does anyone else have enough free time to watch basketball? It’s non stop basketball, I need a few days off here and there. All my life seems to be anymore is basketball, what just happened in the Golden State vs Houston game?

To top it off, we don’t even get local games, so I can’t route against the 76ers anymore, all I get is a blacked out screen. No more Sixers basketball thats one thing, but to pigeon hole me into getting my cable service back that’s another. I feel cheated by this.

My late nights are a steady dose of Warriors, and Lakers basketball games. Thats not a good way to get to bed, hearing the end of the 3rd quarter buzzer. Now if I was in a fantasy basketball league, then I’d be worried, I would seriously have no life. Who am I kidding, I don’t have much now with basketball dreams swirling through my head.

And another thing, why did ABC even get basketball, they rarely show it. ESPN does all the grunt work, while TNT is still 10 times better than both networks. NBA listen up, go back to NBC, get the great basketball theme song, and everyone will be happier. How about putting the NBA all star game back on network TV. I want to see high flyers dunk the basketball in the basket. You like my 1940s style of talking basketball? Go Lakers.
